In collaboration with the Production Design department at the NFTS I designed various elements for the student film ‘Diversion’. This included a number of mock book and magazine covers, general in-car debris and signage for a fast food restaurant that plays a major role in the film.
Removing the requirement for clever ideas that comes with my usual graphic design work made for a strangely liberating experience. With the pressure off, designing a cheap logo design for an equally cheap fast food restaurant became a fun exercise in deliberately bad design.
Most of the elements are used as incidental set dressing, but the Drive Through restaurant plays a key part in the film, earning a large amount of screen time for my deliberately cheap looking menu designs.
